PPSC Test Syllabus
The Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) tests most posts with one MCQ paper of 100 marks and 90 minutes. Its advertisements print a percentage split of the paper, for example qualification-related questions and general ability, not a topic list. PPSC publishes each advertisement's posts together; open the advertisement you applied for to see every post with its printed paper split.

How the PPSC test works
One paper, a printed split
A post's screening test is one MCQ paper of 100 marks and 90 minutes. The advertisement says how the paper divides, such as qualification-related questions and general ability.
General ability is a standard list
When general ability is tested it covers general knowledge, Pakistan Studies, current affairs, Islamic Studies (or general knowledge for non-Muslim candidates), geography, basic mathematics, English, Urdu and everyday science, with basic computer studies in some papers.
The test is not always held
The advertisement's syllabus column is headed 'if held'. When many applications arrive, PPSC may shortlist on academic record instead, so check PPSC's own notices for each post.
Common questions
- How long is the PPSC screening test?
- Where an advertisement prints a test, it is one MCQ paper of 100 marks and 90 minutes.
- Is there negative marking or a passing mark?
- Yes. A wrong answer costs 0.25 marks, a blank scores zero, and the pass mark is 40% of the total marks. Check PPSC's notice for your post before relying on any figure.
- Does PPSC publish a detailed syllabus?
- PPSC posts a one-page syllabus notice for each case on its website, usually repeating the split printed in the advertisement, with no topic list. Check the PPSC syllabus page for your case.
- Is this the official syllabus?
- This is a study aid built from the advertisement. Check the official PPSC notice for anything you rely on to apply.
