The biggest family: 17 male and 6 female lecturer posts across subjects from Botany to Urdu, an Assistant Professor in Computer Science, and three Dean posts. The usual lecturer paper is 100 marks: English 20, a Subject Test of 50 and a Professional Test of 30. In the Botany post, for example, the Professional Test covers teaching techniques and methodology, classroom management, testing and evaluation, and Bloom's Taxonomy. Language posts differ: in Urdu, English is dropped and the paper splits 70% subject, 30% professional.

The Secondary School Teacher paper has a Professional Test of 80 marks on education: perspectives of education in Pakistan, school administration, educational psychology, curriculum, teaching methodology, classroom management and educational measurement.

IT and computing (5)
Computer Operator, Programmer, Database Administrator, Assistant Director (Networking) and a Technical Expert in Computer Science/IT. All five are 100-mark papers with English 20 and a Professional Test of 80, and they test different things. The Programmer paper covers fundamental programming, algorithms and languages including C++, Visual Basic and Unix/Linux. The Database Administrator paper is about Oracle: tables, users and security, backup and recovery. The Networking post covers network devices, IP addressing, routing, switching and troubleshooting.

Engineering, architecture and design (13)
Electrical, electronic and mechanical engineering posts, architects and an interior designer. Eight are 100-mark papers with English 20 and an 80-mark Professional Test, such as Electrical Engineer, whose paper covers power generation and transmission, machines, power electronics, circuits and semiconductor devices. Five are 200-mark senior posts, such as Principal Architect, with English 40, General Intelligence/Ability 60 and a 100-mark Professional Test on design, visual communication and the history and theory of architecture.

Medical, nursing and allied health (15)
Medical officers, nurses, a pharmacist, a dietician and five Principal Technician posts. Most are 100 marks with an 80-mark Professional Test; the Nurse paper, for instance, covers basic medical sciences, general nursing and ward administration, and the Pharmacist paper runs from physical and clinical pharmacy to pharmaceutical chemistry and quality control. The BS-18 General Duty Medical Officer post is different again: 200 marks in two parts, Core Courses of MBBS and Core Courses of General Medicine, with no English part.

Science and meteorology (7)
Scientific officers, an associate fellow and four meteorologist posts. The Meteorologist paper is English 20 plus a Professional Test of 80 on meteorology, climatology, basic physics and maths, and environmental studies. The Director and Deputy Director posts in meteorology are 200-mark papers with the three-part layout.

The most mixed family: the Comptroller, Deputy Director, Editor and Statistician posts, legal and enforcement posts, administrative officers, a Security Officer and an Inspector. Seven are 200-mark posts with English 40, General Intelligence/Ability 60 and a 100-mark Professional Test. The Comptroller paper leans on financial management, public procurement rules and the Civil Servants Act. The Assistant Director (Legal) paper covers the Criminal Procedure Code, Qanun-e-Shahadat Order, the Pakistan Penal Code and the Anti Money Laundering Act. The Inspector paper combines arithmetic, current affairs and Pakistan affairs with law-and-order topics.
